I am excited and honoured to lead this prestigious organization as a Founder President. I would like to thank all the executives, advisors and Nepalese Canadian entrepreneur for making it possible to unite together to work for the organizational objectives.
Canada established its diplomatic relations with Nepal in 1965. It is very exciting to see how the relation between two countries have evolved in last 57 years. People to people ties between Canadian and Nepalese has grown as the Nepalese Diaspora in Canada continue to grow. There are active Canadian Companies in Nepal. However, the Trade between Canada and Nepal is very low compared to other countries, its increasing and there is a significant growth potential.
Nepal is graduating from Least Developed Countries (LDC) to Developing Countries by 2030. Nepal is a member of the WTO, Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) and a founding member of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) under the umbrella of which South Asian Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA). Being the second largest source of hydropower in the world, Nepal has the potentiality of generating 83,000 MW of hydropower.
FCNCC is a Canadian based non-profit organization that will act as a liaison between Canadian (Federal, Provincial and Municipal) government and Nepal government creating opportunities for entrepreneurs in both side of the globe thereby increasing trade and investment. We also bring any issues raised by the entrepreneur to reflect that at the policy level by the government agencies including Member of Parliament, Member of Provincial Parliament, Mayor and Councillor. We are fortunate to work together with the government and industry leader to promote bilateral trade and investment to boost the economic activity in Canada Nepal economic corridor.
